About Emilene da Silva Morais
Emilene is a Masters student who is developing her thesis with Dr Mark Tangney research group at the Cork Cancer Research Centre. Her research is focused on the computational design of de novo therapeutic proteins using modern synthetic biology tools.
Theme / Team
Computational design of de novo therapeutic proteins.
Ovarian cancer, Breast cancer, Pancreatic cancer
Emilene graduated with a BSc in Biotechnological Engineering from University of State of São Paulo, in Brazil. In 2016 she was offered a scholarship to do a Master in Computational Biology at Cork Institute of Technology. After finishing her modules at CIT, she joined Dr Tangney team at the Cork Cancer Research Centre to develop her thesis. Her project is focused on the computational design of de novo therapeutic proteins and she aims to develop novel antibody like proteins to be used in the treatment of different types of cancer.
