Collaborations - National & International

Effective medical research is a continuum from the “bench to bedside”. There must be clinical engagement as well as scientific endeavour – it is a bi-directional process. “There should be no separation between people who operate at the basic science level and between people who operate at clinical investigation level and clinical care. It is a continuum from one through to the other” says Professor Gerry O’Sullivan, Director-in-Chief of Cork Cancer Research Centre.

The experience of the clinicians directly influences our research and leads us to channel resources into solving the current challenges in treating patients with cancer.

International alliances have also been instigated with research groups and innovative companies throughout Europe and the United States. Collaborations at Cork Cancer Research Centre extend to university and institute based research facilities around the world. These collaborations are funded through domestic and international programmes with the objective of strategically complementing the expertise available at the Centre. Such interactions increase and facilitate productive interdisciplinary research.
