Cork Cancer Research are delighted to welcome the appointment of Prof Kerri Clough-Gorr as the new Director of the National Cancer Registry Ireland (NCRI) and UCC’s first Professor of Cancer Epidemiology.
Prof Clough-Gorr, a Boston native, will take up her position in August. Having previously worked as Scientific Director of the National Institute for Cancer Epidemiology & Registration and currently as Assistant Professor at the Institute of Social & Preventative Medicine at the University of Bern, Prof Clough-Gorr brings a wealth of experience to her new roles and Cork Cancer Research Centre and Breakthrough Cancer Research look forward to exploring all the ways we might work together to drive cancer research forward for Irish patients.
Prof Clough-Gorr commented: “It is an honour to be appointed. I welcome the challenge of this exciting opportunity to make the most of public investment in cancer data to inform and improve the experience of cancer patients Ireland-wide. I hope my expertise and international connections will strengthen and compliment ongoing cancer epidemiology efforts and stimulate new areas of interest. I am very much looking forward to settling into Ireland and my new role at NCRI and UCC.”
