The Ballycotton '10' took place on Sunday, 9th March on a dry, bright and clear day. The event attracted in excess of 3,100 runners from all over Ireland as well as the UK, the USA, Germany and Belgium, and a great day was had by all.
The event was extremely well organised with plenty of parking, music and fun. Although you had to be there early just to make sure you got parking, the scenic village of Ballycotton was thronged with athletes and visitors, so there were plenty of people to meet and talk to in the lead up to the race. Some runners ran in costume, with the hula girls in particular, lifting people’s spirits and adding to the event’s atmosphere.
The Ballycotton ‘10’ has been a great success for the Cork Cancer Research Centre, with over €20,000 raised to date and we are expecting additional cards and donations to come in to our office over the next few weeks. The CCRC is extremely grateful to the event organising committee for designating the CCRC as the race charity for this year’s event, as well as to all the runners who have raised sponsorship funds for cancer research.
